Old Man - New Man

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12

Ephesians 4:23: And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

How is the spirit of your mind renewed?

The human mind is like dusty attic that is crowded with the accumulated junk. Human reasoning’s, cultural values, educational influences, pop psychology, programming by parents and systems of the world, training by various careers, vanity, influences of multiple media exposure, life experiences, arguments and deductions, etc., all clutter the mind.

All this junk must be thrown out and renewed with clear and orderly thought.

The effect of Gods life-giving spirit upon your human spirit is able to remove anything which prevents Godly thought, for He gives you His Spirit: 2 Timothy 1:7: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Ephesians 4:17: This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Rom 12:1-2)

There are people that say that if you just read and study your Bible, it is the Word of God, it will renew your mind and you will know God. Well, certainly you want to study and to base everything upon the Truth found in scripture.

But the King James Bible tells us, in Romans 12, that the key to a renewed mind and serving God is to "present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

If God renews your mind, you are going to see that every word in scripture is Jesus Christ - the Truth.

Can a person study their way into a renewed mind?

No. Because you will be studying with an unrenewed natural mind – and what you will conclude is the Truth tainted by that natural mind. The natural mind is dark and there is no Truth in it. It is one that cannot receive or know the things of God. (Read 1 Corinthians 2). No matter how many facts are pumped in to a natural mind, there is no enlightenment from God. A natural mind can be taught religion "about" God and Satan can convince a natural mind there is nothing more to it. The natural man perceives through the five senses, feels and reacts, based on whatever is within them to receive and evaluate their perception of reality. Self is the standard and basis for Truth.

Your own perspective, formed by pride, bias, fears, self righteousness, life experiences and desires, all influence how you interpret God, yourself, others and life. Everything you know outside of Jesus Christ and the King James Bible is a LIE.

God has to draw you to Jesus:

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.  John 6:44

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Col 3:10)

If you try to know the Truth, but stand aloof from surrender to Christ, you may have enough brains to form a semblance of sound Biblical doctrine. But at best, it will be a lifeless, academic theology. At worst, your "Old Man" will be the basis of your interpretation of the Bible. Paul says in Ephesians 4:22 the old man is: "corrupt according to deceitful lusts."

Today, as never before, the Bible is being interpreted in a corrupt and deceitful way. Hardly anyone even cares anymore. It is sin that apathy abounds over Truth.

Put On The New Man

When you accept Jesus Christ in to your heart, He has much work to do.

Jesus gives you a new heart. (Ezekiel 36:26) and if you ask, by faith, He fills you with the Holy Spirit.

But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:20-24

Paul says in this passage to learn Christ, be taught by Him, as the Truth is in Jesus.

After you are saved, it is possible to allow your natural mind to govern you while thinking that you are spiritual. Unfortunately, many think they are walking in the Spirit but they are fully walking in the natural. The natural cannot produce things that are supernatural. The natural is Satan's base of operation and realm. The natural mind must be renewed to become a spiritual mind, which is the mind of Christ.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

Paul’s epistle to the Colossians:

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Col 3:10)

What is this, "new man?" The new man is in Christ. It is the union of the human spirit with the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

We are complete in Him. (Col. 2:10) In Christ are all things that God has for us, He is our very life. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 17:28

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8
