Persevere With Diligence
The Lord, empowers us to overcome the flesh’s propensity to laziness by giving us a new nature (2 Corinthians 5:17).
In our new nature, we are motivated to diligence and productiveness out of a love for Jesus Christ, our Savior, who redeemed us.
There is no room for laziness in the life of a believer. We learn in Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
We can become idle if we erroneously believe God does not expect fruit from a transformed life. Ephesians 2:10 states: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
We are not saved by works, but we show our faith by our works (James 2:18, 26). Laziness and slothfulness violate God’s purpose. God's purpose is good works.
Our labors will be rewarded by The Lord when we persevere in diligence: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9-10 states: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
When God gives us the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to brother's and sister's in Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24 states: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."
Hebrews 6:10 states: "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
Colossians 1:28-29 tells us that true believers should labor in God’s strength to evangelize and disciple. The apostle Paul is our example: "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily."
Even in heaven, our worship and service to God will continue, although no longer encumbered by the curse (Revelation 22:3). Free from sickness, sorrow, and sin—even laziness—we saints will glorify the Lord forever.
1 Corinthians 15:58: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
It states in James 1:22: "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."
